Jay Woudstra

2019 Inductee

Jay began teaching at Central Valley Christian in 1989 and taught junior high until 1994.  In ’94, Jay became the high school Athletic Director and taught PE and Health.

Jay made substantial contributions to the early success of the CVC sports program as both an Athletic Director and a coach.  As a coach, Jay led the 1995 girls basketball team that went 28-2 and won the school’s first Central Section Championship, along with assisting with the boys team that also won a Valley title that year.  He took over the boys program in 1996, winning a section title that year while going 25-6. In his 5 years as the boys head coach, his teams won 3 section championships and 5 league championships. Jay also coached the boys golf team for many years during the 1990s.

As athletic director, Jay oversaw the completion of many significant athletic projects, including the transition to a wood floor in the gymnasium, the building of the football stadium and the baseball field.  He also expanded the athletic programs to include mens and womens soccer, tennis, and swimming.

Since leaving CVC, Jay has been both the principal and superintendent at Sioux Falls Christian School.  Jay is married to Dawn Woudstra and has two children. Jay’s son Joel and his wife Katie live in Virginia.  Jay’s daughter, Jordyn, teaches at Hanford Christian School.
